Monitoring and reporting is the foundation for any national human rights institution (NHRI). When an NHRI produces and reports on objective and independent knowledge on human rights, it accumulates the authority that it needs when carrying out tasks related to its other mandate areas. One of the objectives of this project has been to build the capacities of NHRIs to be able to fulfil their individual UN Paris Principles mandate with regard to monitoring and reporting. The aim is to support NHRIs worldwide in their work to structurally monitor human rights and report their findings to regional and international human rights bodies.
